It is asked that every parent, applying to Level Up, read this breakdown themselves (with their students) to fully understand how our Tutorials Program works, and what is expected of parents & students.

  • Basic Info:

    • Duration: (per course) 1.25 hours, 1-2 times per week.

  • School Year Breakdown:

    • One-day-a-week courses, Monday and/or Wednesday.

    • All courses are held for 31 weeks to cover most of the school year.

  • Course Breakdown:

    • Register for as many courses as needed.

      • Some families register for 4 or 5 classes and some register for one (1) course.

      • We greatly complement Dual Enrollment programs at local community colleges.

    • Courses & tutors do not replace the parent as the primary educator.

      • Each student is expected to complete work outside class time & be prepared to participate in class.

      • Parents must follow up to ensure the student completes the required work.

  • How Our Program Partners with Homeschooling Families:

    • Level Up is for families who have homeschooled for at least one (1) full school year.

      • Level Up is not a good fit for families who simply want to turn over responsibility of overseeing their student’s progress to someone else, nor for families that simply want to check the courses off their list.

    • Utilizing Level Up Tutorials as a supplement to the homeschool experience affords many benefits. We want students to succeed and promote good study skills within the classes.

      • By teaching them to be responsible for keeping up with class assignments, we encourage ownership of education by the student.

      • Study skills are reinforced by the tutors.

      • All students can benefit from the strategies of becoming more responsible & organized!

  • Benefits of Our Program:

    • Group learning in a small class environment – positive peer interaction

    • Accountability to another adult

    • Meeting deadlines

    • Practice for good study, note-taking & test-taking skills

    • Grade assessed for use on transcript

    • Independent learning skills & personal responsibility acquired

    • Affordable

  • Expectations we have of our families

    • Students:

      • You are expected to the following...

        • Respect your Tutor(s), Tutorials Leaders & Parent Volunteers & your fellow students.

        • Abide by church rules & respect church property.

        • Wear modest, neat & tasteful clothing (jeans are acceptable).

        • Work hard & follow through with assignments.

    • Parents:

      • To your student's benefit & supporting our efforts to operate efficiently, it's expected of you to:

        • Cooperatively partner with us in keeping your students accountable to the requirements they are expected to abide by. These are:

          • Take courses & work assigned by Tutors seriously.

            • This includes being willing to do their best to fulfill the assignments given by Tutors & be prepared for class.

          • Respect their tutor(s), their fellow students & the church we meet in.

        • Evaluate all class material for a worldview perspective from which the Tutor may differ from yours.

        • Make sure all payments for materials & fees are made promptly.

  • Further Information:

    • We are partners with parents, not replacement of the parents as the primary educator.

      • It's required that parents are actively involved, partnering with us, for the benefit of student(s).

      • Since our courses meet on a limited basis, they require follow-up at home under the direction of parents.

    • We desire to comply with the homeschooling laws of North Carolina, which now state that Tutors are an educational source that homeschool parents may utilize.

      • To ensure parental involvement, parents will be asked to sign various forms indicating the monitoring of a quiz or test or verifying completion of homework supervised at home.

    • Online Communication with the Tutors is needed for many of our courses, therefore it's necessary for students to have access to the Internet.

      • Some courses utilize an online quiz service for testing, therefore it's important that this process is not hindered.

      • Libraries have Internet service if it is not available at home.

    • If at any time a student is continually disobedient or fails to do the assignments required by their Tutors, and they feel it is not beneficial for the student to remain in the class, the Level Up Board reserves the right to ask a student to discontinue the Tutorials program without refund.

To ensure agreement to these terms, we ask the parent and student read and sign our requirements on the registration page. The complete list of rules and regulations are listed on the Policies & Procedures Page
