  • Prerequisite: Saxon Math 7/6 is not a prerequisite for this class, but successful completion of Saxon Math 7/6 is a good sign of readiness for Algebra ½.

When your child successfully completes this course, they will have the necessary foundation for approaching much higher-level math courses. This is a course that involves the mastery of math concepts including operations with real numbers, solving equations and inequalities, polynomials, exponential operations, factoring, functions, systems of equations and inequalities, linear equations, and quadratic equations.

Needful and yet practical, this is a class that every student should take before they graduate from high school. The topics that are covered will last your child a lifetime, preparing them to make wise financial and consumer choices.

Geometry - Tutor: Paula Bostrom (click for bio)

The geometry class covers traditional formal geometry with an emphasis on clear logical thinking and proof. Students will learn definitions of geometric terms, the structure and implementation of direct and indirect proofs, properties of geometric shapes, and constructions using a compass and straight edge.

  • Supplies: Ruler, protractor, compass and scientific calculator

  • Course Credit: 1 credit of Math

  • Available: All grades. Passing an algebra proficiency test is required to take geometry

    • Students should be prepared to spend 4-6 hours per week outside of class time for homework
