Meet The Team

LU UNION Tutorials & LU Middle Principal Heidi was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and moved to Monroe 18 years ago when she and her husband, Bridger, married. Together they run and operate their family farm which is home to their carriage company Southern Breezes Carriages. They have two children Madison (23) and Miles (16) who both have been homeschooled. Heidi has been a Nail Technician for 30+ years and continues to work two days a week. When she’s not working she enjoys volunteering and actively serves the youth at her church Spirit of Joy. She loves to read and create a home where all feel welcome. As of 2024, she is going into her fifth year as the LU Tutorials Union Principal and remains excited for this chapter of her life with our Level Up Tutorials program, the board, and hopes to continue helping all families have a wonderful and memorable experience while creating memories that last forever.

LU UNION Tutorials & LU Middle Vice Principal (Bookkeeping & Logistics) Marilynn handles all of our financial details, handles our logistics, and works closely with our Tutors, assuring everything is well situated for them for their classes. Being a part of Level up since 2015, she comes with a wealth of knowledge about Level Up and the operations behind it. She closely works with the LU Tutorials Principal & Assistant Principal ensuring we stay within our budget, makes sure tutors are paid, and that the backend operations of LU run smoothly. She is also one of Tutorials & LU Middle Tutors. Marilynn tutors the following classes: •  General Science •  Physical Science •  Hands-On Geography •  Govt & Economics •  LUM Science & Geography

LU UNION Co-Op Principal Bethany Alvarez was born in Buffalo, New York, and raised in Maine, where she developed a lifelong love of learning and community. She spent 17 years teaching preschool and elementary students before transitioning to homeschooling after the birth of her daughter. She holds two master’s degrees in education and is passionate about fostering engaging, high-quality learning environments. In Florida, Bethany founded a homeschool co-op that continues to thrive today, reflecting her commitment to supporting families in their educational journeys. She currently homeschools her two children - a 14-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son - both of whom also attend Level Up. Bethany enjoys reading, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, and investing in her local community. She serves as the middle school class leader at Community Bible Study in Wesley Chapel. She is excited to serve as the Principal of the Union County Level Up Co-Op and looks forward to building a strong, supportive community for students and families.
